E-Scooter Solar Storage & Bluetooth Speaker Box
So I had a Harbor Freight 3200 Apache case lying around used for misc tools, but wasn’t getting much action. I have been riding my scooter like crazy because I love charging it and going on little errands around town. The back of the scooter has a little luggage area so I had the idea to mount the case for extra storage.
Well, I had a few things in mind once I set that case on the back. What if I put some speakers in it? How about a solar panel on top? Let’s add safety and put a few LED marker lights on for better visibility and safety while riding.
This look and the features was an instant sell, I posted the scooter for sale and within a day or two it sold!!
(The Idea)
Let’s see how cool we can make this!
Parts Used in this Project
Apache 3800 Waterproof Storage Case
Viking 12v Jump start Battery (12-15v dc input)
Warrior Step Bit Set
50 watt Bluetooth Amplifier Board
2” Project Speaker
USB 12v dual output panel mount jack
10watt 12v Solar Panel
12v LED ring lit latching switch
Wireless 12v relay board
LED 12v Red Amber Marker Lights
Sweet Folding cup holder
Step 1: remove handle on Apache case, paint case using grey plastic safe paint let fully dry - then paint with aluminum metallic paint.
Step 2: cut holes size of speaker to mount from back side (used epoxy to mount) optional grill can be added for speaker look and safety.
Step 3: cut hole for usb Charger and lighted switch where you want it located. (Step Bit kit works great!!)
Step 4: Mount 10w Solar panel on top lid
Step 5: Wire all electrical! Add Velcro to the Power pack inside the case - wire the power through the wireless relay and to amp power. The power to the marker lights is handled by the push switch post relay. I used the USB port on the side as an internal bus bar to crimp to so the 12v output from the jump pack powers the external USB jacks and marker lights when activated.
Wireless switch can turn on speakers and lights as you approach the scooter and push play on phone to get the tunes bumping without ever opening the case.
Solar panel can charge the power pack / other jump starters can be used as long as it has 12v output and a 12-15v charge port (or 12v to 5v usb Charger can be added in line from panel to jump pack for usb charging)
Lots of extra room in case for tools, snacks, groceries or whatever - plus it’s watertight and lockable!!!
Talk about coolness factor of 10+ 😎
